Simple Machine Forum

This is the forum the other place uses. It is free to down load and use. Open source. Requires Apache server, MySQL data base and PHP. I installed it on my back up comp, but I installed the database and PHP in the wrong order. Now every thing is messed up.

Yes! Real easy. However, you can't export the data base. Anything you have posted, stays here forever. And I understand that there have been people that got big enough to slow things down. If you want a newer faster server, you have to start all over again.

I was just thinking about how this forum company works. You supply the content. They keep it. Just like every other forum out there. Admin1 owns his database. He doesn't have to give any of it to you. It's his playground.

This reminds me more of the role that Yakup plays then Admin1. Yakup doesn't own it and can't just do what ever he wants. But he is an Admin. He has rights to control accounts and even to change boards around. But the database isn't his and he can't walk off with it.

We have graduated to Yakups level. But not Admins1.

but we can do what we want here,this is the fun.nobody can tell us,what to do.except in copyright things,i dont know if they would close our forum,if we would share things here.but we dont need to share anything,all we are doing here is legal.

Just understanding why people spend money on owning there own forums. We in the end work for the owners of this forum. It isn't us.

but the good thing is,that we dont have to pay for anything.we both have not enough money to buy an apache server or something.so lets have fun here and have a good time.

I agree. However, Apache is free. So is the database software, MySQL. So is the programming software, PHP. So is the forum software, SMF. A domain name costs $2. I think it may be possible to have the whole thing on your comp at home. Also, free. Admin1 is paying for more powerful comps. Most likely not in his home. But out in the web somewhere. The forum is to big not to.
